Welcome to the Distributed Generation Policy Scoring Tool. This program was written for the National Association of State Energy Offices by The Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP). Questions regarding the use of this program should be directed to RAP.

This tool is designed to assess a range of different policy parameters relevant to the deployment of Distributed Generation resources.

While anyone might be assisted through its use, this program is specifically intended to assist state regulators and policy makers to assess the strengths and weakness of their existing Distributed Generation and related policies. The scope of this program includes both public utility regulation and environmental regulation. Both of these areas should ideally work together to assure that economically indicated resources are deployed, without degrading the environment.

System Requirements

This program has been tested on Windows XP. We believe this program is compatible with Windows 98, but were unable to test it on a Win98 computer. This program has been optimized for display on a 1280X1024 resolution screen display, but should function well on lower resolution screens. This program is not available for Macintosh, Linux or other platforms.

Version 1.2.0 of this program was released on December 15, 2005. If you have Versoin 1.0.0 through Version 1.1.1 of this program, you can download the much smaller update file below. Choose the following link for the full installation.

After you have downloaded this file, you can install the NASEO DG Tool by using one of the following methods:

1. Unzip the DGTool.zip file into a folder of your choice. Navigate to the chosen folder where you unzipped the file. Open the "Autorun" folder and double-click on the CDRun.exe icon to launch the install menu program or alternatively double-click on "Setup.exe" in the folder where you unzipped the files to bypass the install menu and immediately initiate installation of the software. The install menu provides access to additional items including the "Read Me" file and access to the DG Tool Help file.

2. Double-click the DGTool.zip file. This will launch Winzip and open a window listing the files inside the DGTool.zip file and double click "Setup.exe" in the list of files or click on the "Install" button on the toolbar of Winzip. This will launch the installation using temporary copies of the install files.

3. (For Full Instllation Only) After unzipping the download file you can copy the entire set of resulting files and folders to a CD. This will create a CD that is identical to the original distribution CD version and which will "Autorun" when inserted in a CD drive, provided the Autorun feature is enabled on your computer.
