RAP Participates in Kick-off Meeting for Germany’s Energiewende Working Group at the Ministry of Environment
Germany’s Ministry of Environment invited RAP to participate on a small working group of government policy advisors and experts to develop recommendations for implementation of the Energiewende (“energy turn”), which calls for a phase out of all nuclear power plants by 2022 and a minimum of 80% renewables in the power mix by 2050. The working group will focus on developing recommendations to optimize the interaction of renewables, demand-side resources and conventional generation in order to integrate renewables into the power system reliably and affordably. Andreas Jahn, RAP’s senior associate based in Berlin, represented RAP at the kick-off meeting in July by presenting a short overview of the key role that demand-response can play to meet these objectives.
