​Jim Lazar spoke at a conference sponsored by Uplight, on business model innovation and technological innovation in the electricity industry. His presentation addressed eliminating rate base as a determinant of utility earnings, recognition of the health benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy, and innovative technologies that will assist in the transition to an energy system that relies more heavily on variable renewable energy. His co-panelists were Rachel Gold from ACEEE and Camilo Serna of DTE Energy.
