Drivers of recent EU energy consumption growth

At the European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy’s (eceee) 2019 summer study, Samuel Thomas unpacked the causes for recent growth in European energy consumption. He highlighted the need for a step change in energy efficiency, particularly in the buildings sector, if Europe is to meet its 2030 energy efficiency target and 2050 climate targets.
