Energy Efficiency Obligations: Global Experience, Lessons Learned
As part of an ongoing bilateral cooperation between Germany’s and Israel’s Environmental Ministries, a 2-day workshop was held in Tel Aviv to discuss energy efficiency policies and practices. Staff and key managers from Israel’s air quality and utility regulatory agencies participated, as well as NGOs, members from industry and Israel’s state owned electric utility company. RAP Principal Meg Gottstein was asked by Germany’s Ministry to accompany them and present on global experience with energy efficiency obligations, which is available here. Representatives from Germany’s Ministry of Environment provided information on the EU energy efficiency directive and current practices for implementing EU-level air quality regulations, which can include energy management systems and potentially other energy efficiency improvements in industry.
