The United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan is currently the hottest topic in the U.S. power sector. With EPA’s final rule imminent, states must wade through the labyrinth of options available for compliance. In a webinar entitled “Industrial Energy Efficiency and the Clean Power Plan,” Ken Colburn presented an important resource, “Implementing EPA’s Clean Power Plan: A Menu of Options.” This encyclopedic guide outlines numerous technical and policy measures available for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector, providing for each measure a description, the regulatory backdrop, state and local implementation experience, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, co-benefits, costs and cost-effectiveness, and other useful information. Mr. Colburn encourages states to leverage energy efficiency and renewable energy sources to ensure a least-cost compliance plan with reliable power supply.
