Integrating Clean Energy Policies with Strategies on Air Quality
At a workshop of the Technical Assistance Project for the China Air Quality Management Program, a two-year collaboration to advance air quality management in China, Christopher James spoke about the importance of integrating clean energy and air quality policies. In addition to exploring best practices and providing examples of U.S. experiences with these synergistic policies, he recommended RAP’s “IMPEAQ” method—integrated multi-pollutant planning for energy and air quality. This strategy helps regulators balance regulations for meeting electric system reliability requirements at least cost with policies to protect public health and the environment.
