Regulatory Policies to Support a Green Power Sector in China
On 10 November 2012, Rick Weston participated in the “International Forum on Green Power Innovation” in Guangzhou, China. The Forum was hosted by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission of China (SERC) and was the featured event of the “China International Green Innovative Products & Technologies Show”. Twenty speakers from key government departments (among them SERC, the Ministry of Commerce, the Development Research Center of the State Council, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection), State Grid, China Southern Grid, and other industry players spoke on China’s transition to a green power sector. Mr. Weston’s presentation, by way of summing up the proceedings, focused on the innovative policies that China already has in place to support clean resources and offered recommendations for additional governmental initiatives to accelerate their deployment.
