Renewable Integration in the US
As part of the 2016 Institute for Energy, Economics, and Financial Analysis conference, Richard Sedano provided an in-depth examination of renewable energy integration in the US. He addresses technical and institutional factors influencing integration, as well as strategies for achieving much higher penetrations of renewable energy. He highlights the importance of flexible resources in a grid with an increasing proportion of renewable sources as well as the significant effect of growing distributed solar photovoltaic capacity, offshore wind capacity, and storage capacity on the need for new, extra high voltage transmission facilities.
