In a webinar offered by the Coalition for Energy Savings, senior advisor Eoin Lees discussed the role of member states’ energy efficiency obligations (EEOs) in meeting the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED). Dr. Lees discussed the eligibility of various measures which must achieve savings beyond ‘business as usual.’ He emphasized that EEOs are not a ‘silver bullet,’ and that other efficiency policies including building codes, appliance standards and labeling, low interest finance, tax breaks and the synergies between these policies will be needed to meet the EED.
