Using Demand-Side Management to Support Electricity Grids
Demand-side management (DSM) measures can support electricity grids by relieving network constraints and providing services for electricity network system operators. Participants from around the world joined the International Energy Agency Demand Side Management Programme (IEA DSM) and David Crossley for a webinar on May 7, 2014, exploring the results from a four-year study of grid support projects from 13 different countries around the world. Dr. Crossley examines the role of load control and smart metering in supporting electricity grids, how to identify the value of a DSM grid support project to different categories of stakeholders, how to evaluate and acquire demand-side resources for grid support, and how to incorporate demand-side measures into grid planning.
