
Carl Weinberg is the principal of Weinberg Associates, which he founded in 1993 after 19 years with the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). At PG&E, he grew an internationally respected energy research and development program. Weinberg Associates was formed with the primary objective of accelerating the introduction of renewable and distributed power systems.
Recent activities have involved policy issues and their technical considerations in the restructuring of the utility industry, with particular emphasis on the concept of sustainability in a competitive framework and the introduction of distributed resources.
Mr. Weinberg serves on the boards and working-level committees of numerous energy efficiency and renewable energy organizations in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining PG&E in 1974, he spent 21 years in the United States Air Force on various assignments involving research and development management in bioscience in the U.S., Eastern Asia, and Europe.
He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s in physics from Vanderbilt University.
