Distribution System Operators (DSOs) are becoming critical enablers for integrating distributed energy resources and smart grid technologies into power systems globally. Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (ANEEL), under Brazil’s regulatory framework, establishes conditions for electricity distribution and market development to benefit Brazilian society, making the evolution of DSO roles particularly relevant for the country’s energy transition.

The Regulatory Assistance Project, with ANEEL, facilitated a discussion of the paper Transitioning to Distribution System Operators in Brazil. This webinar examined the evolving DSO functions across system operation, planning and market operation and will incorporate international best practices. Guests and panelists included

  • Agnes Maria de Aragão da Costa, ANEEL
  • Leonardo Mendonça Oliveira de Queiroz, ANEEL
  • Bianca Alencar, MME
  • Daniela Santana, ONS
  • Lucas Malheiros, ABRADEE
  • Gabriel Cunha, PSR
