In this Electrification Academy webinar, we explored the fact that electricity grids are entering a new phase of investment across Europe, and how to ensure these costs don’t translate into higher bills for consumers. Michał Smoleń (Polish Economic Institute), and Albert Banal-Estañol (Universitat Pompeu Fabra & Barcelona School of Economics) joined Marion Santini and Zsuzsanna Pató of the Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP). We discussed how rising grid investment needs are shaping electricity costs for consumers, what policy and regulatory tools can help manage or reduce these costs, and the key challenges and trade-offs in financing the grid transition
