Alexander Urquhart

Senior associate

Alex Urquhart is a senior associate with RAP's research & strategy hub. His work focuses on electrification and the power sector, with emphasis on the United States.

Alex brings over 10 years of technical science, research and modeling experience to this work, including global climate policy analysis and basic energy science. Most recently he worked with a modeling team at Energy Innovation. Prior to that, he worked on renewable energy permitting in New England and managed a business school research department. Before switching to a policy and renewables focus, his career started in geology, working on various subsurface energy and environmental research projects at Sandia National Labs.

Alex lives in Portland, Maine, just a few miles from where he grew up. He moved around a lot before understanding that Maine is the way life should be. He volunteers at the Maine Tool Library, as well as on the board of several local energy and environmental organizations. He is a runner and downhill skier who's trying to learn to enjoy cross-country skiing. He received his bachelor's degree from Amherst College, in Massachusetts.
