Emily Bosch, as the Strategic Communications Lead for the United States program, leads the U.S. team’s communications strategy around RAP’s mission, priority issues, and policy recommendations, and ensures RAP’s work reaches media, partners, and key decision makers.
Emily’s experience communicating complex energy and environmental issues to broad, diverse audiences will help magnify RAP’s impact. Before joining RAP, she served as the Interim Western Communications Director at the Sierra Club where she worked on issues ranging from clean energy to public lands conservation in 22 Western states. Previously, she was a Deputy Press Secretary with the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign and led media and public engagement in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. She has also worked on economic policy as the Deputy Communications Director at The Impact Project and has experience as a college communications professor and debate coach.
Emily holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from Concordia College and a master’s in communication studies from the University of Kansas.

How did you catch the “energy” bug?
I caught the energy bug when I was a policy debater in high school. One of the topics I researched and debated for a year was clean energy policy in the United States. I was fascinated by all the different ways states could approach energy policy.
What is something that makes you feel hopeful about the future?
People give me hope for the future. I get to work with smart, thoughtful people who constantly teach me new things. On the weekends, I coach and judge debate and get to see the creativity and brilliance of the next generation on display. Being around people who care and think deeply makes the future feel pretty promising.
If I were a superhero, my superpower would be telepathy.
